The Divaz Beauty Tips
It’s interesting to see what tools we find in our cosmetic bags or tools that are part of our beauty regimen. Vanity will take us to strange places but one thing is for sure we’ll do anything to be beautiful!
“Beauty begins when you decide to be yourself” / Coco Chanel
As Divaz one the challenges we come across is our lipstick disappearing very frequently, especially after drinking and eating. Alot of times, as small of a task it may seem, we don’t have time to keep applying our rouge.
Here are some simple steps to keep that rouge on your pout just about all day. Wow! Don’t you just love that?
Here you go!
Exfoliate your lips
Prime your lips before applying lipstick. This can take more or less five minutes to sink. Then take a soft and hygiene toothbrush and move it over your lips gently in circular motion to remove chapped skin from the lips.
Coating the lips with foundation prior to the application of lipstick also makes the lipstick stay for long. This will allow the lipstick to stick to the lips and lasts longer.
Blot it with a tissue
Apply lipstick with selected lip color and then blot it with a tissue.
Simply apply a little powder on your pouts after it’s been blotted with tissue. It induces dryness to your lips & prevents the lipstick from smearing. Powder is key to keeping the lipstick on your lips for quite a long time.
Apply your second coat of lipstick after you’ve powdered them.
Now go & be the DIVA that you are and look fabulous!!

The Fall BOLD LIPS Trend. From berry lips, red pouts, 70’s glossy lips…it’s all a huge trend this cold season. And have no fear, be BOLD and give your lips a bigger look by overlining with a lip pencil. Bold lips are a fashionable look for day & night time.
We know your pain when there are so many lipcolors to choose from and what will look best. Here are some fun examples of celebrities and models that can sway your decision in picking out the right color for you.
Divaz, don’t be afraid of color. Have fun especially on the weekends where you can test a couple of colors while your out and about and see how you look and feel but also what the response is from others. We’ve had many times where strangers will compliment a fashion piece or makeup look we are wearing.
Jennifer Lopez made sure to bring her attitude with this plumish/burgundy lipcolor.
Revlon Shine Lipstick in Plum Velour Burgundy (above) is a great statement lipstick at an affordable price.
Let’s go matte with MAC Stroke of Midnight/Viva Glamorous Lipstick

How to go from Boss to Belle this holiday season!
Super-fast (and easy) makeup that’ll make you party-ready in minutes. No need to bail out because you’re running late.
Eyeliner is the fastest way to look sexy. Here’s how: Trace your top lash lines to just past the outer corners of your eyes.
- Line the top eyelid
- Brush on some black or charcoal eyeshadow. Extend out past your eye
- Line the bottom lid to connect with eyeshadow. You can add more eyeshadow and extend further out for a very dramatic look.
- Go over top & bottom lids with black eyeliner to add intensity
Go with a gold or silver shimmery eyeshadow and a darker lip color like the Plums that are HOT this holiday season! (best to apply eyeliner on top of your shimmery eyeshadow)

Divaz Fabula loves to highlight their client’s events, especially weddings. Now it’s time to highlight one of our own.
Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Arvy Crayton! Sandy, co-owner of Divaz Fabula, was married to Lamont (Arvy) on June 6, 2014.
Here’s their story!
Finding Love Again – Second Chances
Lamont and I met many years ago in middle school. Back then I remembered him as my sweet friend I called Monty. Little did I know that we would be the perfect match for each other many years to come. As we all know, time flies by and life takes over. Along with that sometimes comes happiness, love, marriage, children, heartache, and divorce. It may not always come in that order, but that is the order it was for me. Going through a divorce and relocating back home to Texas with 3 boys as a single mom was one of the most hardest, humbling, heartbreaking things that I ever had to do. It took every ounce of my being to not breakdown every day. I am fortunate and have been blessed with such a loving and supportive family that helped me hold my head up high and get back on my feet. Being a single parent raising children on your own is tough. Forget about having a social life. That is not in the vocabulary of a single parent. It is a hard pill to swallow since everyone desires the need to have a partner to walk through life with. As always, decisions have to be made. Be a parent and focus on your kids only or have a social life and focus on you. I decided and came to the realization that remarrying again may not be in the cards for me so my kids were my focus.
One day my eldest son asked me if I could take him to the bowling alley so he could hang out with his friends. I figured why not, but I told him that I was going to hang around close by so I would not have to make multiple trips to pick him up. So we left the house. Keep in mind, it is the weekend and I was not looking good. No shower, no makeup, old frumpy sweats, and a slick back pony tail. After dropping him off I figured I would stop by Academy and check things out. As I walked through the door and past the front desk I heard someone say to me, “Excuse me ma’am”. The first thing that popped into my head was what did my boys do now. I turned around and the gentleman in front of me asked, “Is your name Sandy Ortiz”. Of course I am thinking who are you? The gentleman said, “I am Lamont Crayton. We went to middle school together”. I did remember him at first, but he looked familiar. We began talking and catching up a little bit. He asked for my number and asked if we can get together sometime. I figured why not, he seemed like a nice guy. As we said bye and we went our separate ways I got a phone call from him right away. He told me he wanted to make sure that I did not give him a fake number. That still makes me laugh to this day. We went on several dates shortly after that and got to know one another. We talked and shared about each other’s history and life’s experiences. Lamont also told me that he had the biggest crush on me in middle school, but was always afraid to ask me out because he know I would say no. He was right about that. In his words he said, “I was a snob”. He said the day he saw me walk through the doors at Academy he had tunnel vision and time stood still and all he saw was me. He could not believe that was Sandy Ortiz walking through that door.
As time moved on and we got to know each other and I mean all of us (all the boys). He respected my time that I needed with the boys and understood that alone time with me was not always an option. Lamont embraced that and soon became the extra little something special that I was totally missing in my life. He was patient, caring, loving, understanding, flexible, and easy going, Being married before I always felt married, but kind of alone if you understand what I mean. For the first time I finally realized what it was like to have a true partner that I could rely on for understanding and support. He knew what I needed even before I voiced it and did it without hesitation. Lamont was the perfect man that I needed in my life and was and still is a true blessing. Our running into each other at the right time of our lives was destined and timed perfectly. God always has a plan. Believe it.
Lamont and I discussed marriage and knew this was the direction we were going. It was just a matter of doing it right. Being married a second time is thought through in a totally different way. The priorities change and the focus becomes more about the commitment rather than the wedding. There was never a right time to get all of our families together and the cost for a small wedding was still expensive. I had a son in college and I did not feel spending tons of money on a wedding was practical. We finally decided to just elope. We had already planned a trip in June to go to New Orleans. I figured lets makes this a trip to remember. Let’s have a Destination Wedding. I did not know one thing about New Orleans nor what I needed to do to get married there. One day I looked on line at elopements and photographers. Pamela Reed Photography came up on my search. I really liked the look of her photos and the way she captured certain details. I read her reviews and had a good feeling about her. I called her and had a great conversation with her. She was funny, down to earth, and was very helpful in directing me towards different avenues. The fact that she is a local helped me as she thought of things that I never would have thought of. Preparing for our elopement was very easy and stress free.
The time came for our trip. Pamela and I had planned to meet the day before our wedding to discuss details and how to plan our day. We were prepared and ready to go. Pamela went with us in the cab to Algier’s Point Courthouse where we were scheduled to have our marriage ceremony. Not only was she our photographer, she was also one of our witnesses for our ceremony. The judge was running behind, but Pamela was kind and patient. She was so easy to talk to that we just had a great time in conversation. After our ceremony we walked to the ferry and took a ride across the river back to the French Quarter. We walked down Bourban Street and took pictures along the way. Our final pit stop was a bar where we stopped for photos and a cigar. Not that we are smokers, but it was fun in the moment. We laughed and had such a great time with Pamela. This was such a wonderful day for Lamont and I. This is something that we experienced together with no one around. There were no distractions, no one pulling us in different directions, no problems with decorations, caterers, bridesmaids, etc. It was just Lamont, myself, and a wonderful photographer, our new friend Pamela Reed. Our wedding day could not have been more perfect in our eyes and Pamela captured this in every photo she took.

“Should I get traditional makeup or airbrush?” “Can I afford both hair and makeup services?” “I just won’t pay for services. It’s not my special day.” These are common questions bridal members ask themselves or struggle with. Well, through our professional career Divaz Fabula has seen and continues to see that these beautiful ladies backout or opt out of hair and makeup services for personal reasons ONLY to have them ask for services day of the event. Huge risk to this is that a timeline has been set to fit the paid clients/bridal party. There’s a slim chance that the unpaid individual will receive services should time permit. As professioal HMUAs we love what we do and love to help everyone out but day of the wedding it is our desire and job to make the day flow as smoothly as possible especially for the bride.
Why is it important for bridesmaids or bridal members to receive professional services? Well the pictures below say it all. It makes for better photos for everyone and professional photographers LOVE it when clients have had great professional hair & makeup services. With that being said, do your diligence and research HMUAs and interview them to see that they will be a perfect fit for you.
Morale of the story is bridemaids, mother of the bride, mother of the groom et al. are worthy of these professional services, especially for professional photos. You don’t want to miss the opportunity to look your very best for your bride and day of the wedding!
What a busy season it has been for Divaz Fabula. Started out with a Prom Fashion Show for Pflugerville High School, Hendrickson High School Prom on May 10th and Pflugerville & Cedar Ridge High School Proms on May 17th. We pulled through especially with wedding season in high gear. Divaz Fabula couldn’t ask for a better set of absolutely gorgeous and sweet ladies.
This video is dedicated to these beautiful ladies as they have prepared so diligently for this very special evening since the beginning of their senior year. Wishing every single one of these Divaz a blessed and bright future and that the Lord will guide their every step!
